One of the working titles for this film was "Night of the
Flesh Eaters". Originally, the beings attacking the
characters were extraterrestrial in origin, either aliens
or humans possessed by an alien pathogen, presumably
covering a NASA satellite returning from Venus.
Eventually, it was decided that the dead would rise and
devour the living, presumably due to radiation that was
carried by a NASA satellite returning from Venus.

The music in the film was originally used in the
1959 motion picture, "Teenagers From Outer Space." It cost
the NOTLD filmmakers $1500 to use. The same music is also
used in the motion picture, "The Killer Shrews." You can
sample this music right here in the Sound Vault! |

"Eyewitness
accounts described the assassins as ordinary-looking
people, misshapen monsters, people who look like they're
in a trance, and creatures that look like people but
behave like animals. Some tell of seeing victims that
looked as if they had been torn apart." |
