Joe Pilato originally auditioned for the role of "Stephen" in Dawn of the Dead.

•  He went on to star in George A. Romero's Day of the Dead.
•  He was in Director George A. Romero's "Knightriders." He played a disgruntled fair worker.
He was in an episode of "The Adventures of Brisco County Junior." (We enjoy thinking of Bruce and Joe at the same time!)

Ok tough guy. I'm sure you already know who Joe Pilato is. He played the

man we love to hate (Rhodes) in Day of the Dead. But did you know he originally

auditioned for the role of Stephen in Dawn of the Dead?

Obviously, he didn't land the part. Instead, he played a police officer.

When Roger and Peter first drive up to the helicopter at the boat docks

take a close, slow motion look. As soon as they step out of their squad car

a scene flashes of Fran running past 3 men unloading a police van.

The man in the middle shouts out something and moves to the

back of the van to help unload. -That was your first glimpse of Joe.

When the helicopter is about to take off, Roger yells "Hey guys!. You better get a move on. There's a report out the dock's been knocked out." The man who

"responds to him is Joe again. By this time you should be able figure out

who he is in the next scene. (Here's a hint, he's the guy in the back just getting

on the boat in the picture above."

If you STILL can't remember him in Dawn, click on the pics below.
