•  A Behind The Scenes still from the Extended Version of the Ultimate DVD boxed set indicates George Romero had a third cameo in the picture. The still shows the director standing to the side of the camera, his sleeve rolled up, holding a pistol upwards. Behind him, a part of the mall can clearly be seen, indicating it was shot on site. Near the end of the picture, a similar shot exists: a POV from a man holding a pistol firing up past a fenced in area on the upper floor where Peter is running across.
•  George A. Romero played the "Santa Clause" biker, (he's briefly visible when the Bikers first raid the Mall.)
•  George A. Romero also played the director in the TV Studio.
"This situation must be controlled before it's too late. They're multiplying too rapidly!"
 

BERMAN:  

Do you believe the dead are returning to life and attacking the living?
DR. FOSTER: I'm not sure what to believe doctor!
DR. FOSTER:   You're not running a talk show here, Mr. Berman...You can forget
pitching an audience the moral bullshit they want to hear!
BERMAN:

 

 You're talking about abandoning every human code of behavior, and
there's a lot of us who aren't ready for that Doctor Foster.
DR. FOSTER: These are not ghosts. Nor are these humans! These are dead corpses. Any unburied
human corpse with its brain intact will in fact reactivate. And it's precisely because of
incitement by irresponsible public figures like yourself that this situation is being dealt with
irresponsibly by the public at large!
DR. FOSTER: This situation is controllable. People must come to grips with this concept. It's extremely
difficult, with friends, with family, but a dead body must be deactivated by either
destroying the brain or severing the brain from the rest of the body.
DR. FOSTER: Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them! It gets up and kills! The
people it kills get up and kill!
DR. FOSTER: They kill for one reason. they kill for food. They eat their victims. Do you understand
that Mr. Berman? That's what keeps them going.
OLD PRIEST: Many have died last week, on these streets. In the basement of this building you will find
them. I have given them the last rites, now, you do what you will. You are stronger then
us, but soon I think, they be stronger than you. When the dead walk señores, we must
stop the killing or lose the war.
ROGER: Why did these people keep them here?
PETER: 'Cause they still believe there's respect in dying.
PETER: Wake up sucker! We're thieves and we're bad guys, that's exactly what we are. We gotta
find our own way.
